Conversion Tracking Basics with Examples
In internet marketing, tracking is a central part of the working process. Conversion tracking mainly involves placing cookies on a user’s computer when he/she clicks on the advertisement. This process varies program to program.
Most of the pay per clicks programs provides a code and users just need to copy the whole code and paste that on the shopping cart software’s check out messages. Users can also select other places for conversion tracking.
Conversion tracking process can be done in four easy steps at the keyword level.
Firstly, advertisers need to set up the keyword URLs. URL needs to be changed so that all the keywords have their own URL. Advertisers have to be sure to apply appropriate code for the associate network they are using. If they fail to apply the right SubID code then the associated network wills not the accurate conversion data.
Secondly, marketers need to put the keyword and URL into the Adword’s quick add screen
Thirdly, marketers need to set up the associated link with HP code. If the link looks like this:
Fourthly, marketers need to paste the associated link and PHP code into the landing page. Advertisers then need to save the landing page with a .ph extension so that the code will work properly. If they save it as .html or some other type of extension then it will not work.
Tracking the conversions is a boastful step in maximizing the pay per click campaign. It helps the marketers to increase the profitability. This may not provide the marketer to be a tracking guru but they can reach to a good position and can do better pay per click marketing tasks.
