Google recently overhauled their Android, iPhone, and iPad map apps in order to improve the overall user experience. According to Google, over one billion people use their maps services each month.
The latest release adds relevant advertisements at the bottom of the screen after a user performs a search. The ad includes basic information such as a title and ad text as well as a link where the user can view directions to that place.
When you tap on the ad or swipe it upward, you can see more information about that business. It includes even more things such as the address, phone number, photos, reviews, and so on. The user also has the option of saving the location or sharing it with other people.
How to Get Started with ads on the Google Maps app
If you are an advertiser and you want to start your ads on the Google Maps app, you will need to add location extensions to your search campaign or create an ad with AdWords Express.
Keep in mind that if you have disabled your ad from showing on mobile devices, you will need to revert that setting to include mobile traffic as well.
