What is Google Slap
Google is a big name in online advertisement. Many small and mid sized businesses depend on Google for their advertisement as this is less costly but generates huge traffic. There are some businesses which only depend on Google AdWords for their promotional activities.
Sometimes Google stops showing up advertisements of a particular company or website and Google do this to ensure the quality. Google is very much careful to keep their good reputation and they do not compromise with the quality. It has been seen that Google removes an advertisement without even informing the advertisers. This happens because of wrong placement or mistakes. If advertisers violets terms and conditions made by Google for their AdWords service, then Google drops the advertisement from their index.
This is known as Google Slap. Google Slap is a big problem for the businesses which uses AdWords to drum up their promotions.
Google slaps for many reasons. If Google sees that a website which visitors are clicking after watching the ad is not containing related data then Google may slaps that site. It can also occur if the website loads too slowly or if the quality is very bad. If several mistakes occur at the same time then Google slaps and this slap can be very injurious for the advertisers. Firstly Google can increase the price of pay per clicks. If one advertiser pays $0.005 usually for every click, when Google slaps then it may increase to $10 which is almost impossible for the advertisers to run the campaign. Secondly Google may decrease the page ranking.
Google enjoys the full right to determine the quality of a webpage. If the quality of the webpage is low and if Google finds irrelevant keywords then the site can be slapped. The effect of a Google slap can be very lengthy. It has been seen that a website got slapped by Google on 2008 and now in 2011 it is getting low age rankings.
If a company got slapped by Google then it is better to change the domain rather challenging Google. If they fix their site and then again listed in the Google’s index, these sites will still face low page rankings and it will be difficult for them to run advertisements in Google. Advertisers don’t need to Google for the slap because Google will never compromise if it is about quality. Google has its terms and conditions and regulations for AdWords account holders. If one wants to post advertisements through Google AdWords then he/she should have a very good knowledge about AdWords rules and regulations to avoid a Google Slap.
Google always wants original and relevant information or content in the landing ages. It also considers transparent trading and information about the business so that a visitor can be benefited. If the landing page contains a lot of graphics rather information and if it has a lot of advertisements about other pages then Google may slap the website. Google’s editorial guideline is always there to help a person about posting an advertisement.
AdWords experts recommend starting over if one got slapped by business.
